Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school-age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

This unit of competency may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

In this course, you will learn the skills and knowledge required to respond to an emergency situation, apply appropriate first aid procedures, communicate details of the incident and review the incident.

Course Delivery

Classroom-based – E-learning + Face-to-Face classroom training and assessment  delivered at our campus at Level 5, 136 Chalmers Street Surry Hills, NSW 2010, Australia.

Written | Practical | Scenario-based-assessment

Certificate Valid

HLTAID012 Provide First aid in an Education and Care Setting valid for 36 months from the date of course completion

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation valid for 12 months from  the date of course completion

First Aid Certificate

You will receive a nationally recognised  PDF Statement of Attainment in HLTAID012 Provide First aid in an Education and Care Setting and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation emailed to you on the same day after successful completion of your training and assessment.

Age Requirement

Minimum 14 years

Factors to consider

Students attending course will be require to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult mannikin paced on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.
